This gorgeous 18.5mm (.73 inches) sterling silver pendant charm would be a beautiful gift for someone special, it has a brushed finish on the back, perfect for engraving. A chain is available for purchase in varying lengths as well. This charm is engraved with "CARDID DEL CORBRE" on top, Our Lady of Charity is the English translation. She is the Patroness of Cuba and the Cuban people. She is the Patron Saint of salt and copper mines. In this pendant, she is shown wearing a crown and veil, standing atop a crescent moon, with 3 men in boats upon the sea beneath her. Rays of light show behind her and she cradles baby Jesus in her arm, this is how the statue was originally found by Rodrigo and Juan de Hoyos (brothers) and their African slave child on their way across the sea to the salt mine. The statue is now kept in the Basilica of El Cobre, Cuba.
